New Safety Strategy

At the Annual General Meeting on November 14th , the members in attendance discussed the implementation of utilizing the free App WhatsApp, to alert the biz members (via text) of immediate safety concerns in the biz area. This could be a robbery, break in, loitering, drug dealing, graffiti, property vandalism, aggressive behaviour, panhandling, and any other crime in progress or suspicious behavior which could lead to a crime or a safety issue. This information sharing would assist the biz members in being aware of the situation.

What you need to do: If you don’t have WhatsApp on your smart phone, download WhatsApp onto your phone (Android, Windows or I Phone only) or visit the app store online at https://www.whatsapp.com/download
Send a test text using WhatsApp to 204-227-1804. You will now be part of the North End BIZ Safety Network.

Safety Guide for Crime Prevention

The Winnipeg Police Service has partnered with the West End BIZ and the Winnipeg Committee for Safety to produce the latest edition of “Partners in Prevention”, a Crime Prevention & Safety Awareness Guide for Businesses & Their Employees. The guide is a hands-on educational resource providing valuable information to help prevent businesses and individuals from becoming a victim of crime. Safety Initiatives and a “Who do you call?” reference sheet of critical contact numbers is included in the guide. In early December we will be delivering a copy of the guide to each business in the North End BIZ.  The guide will also be available at the AGM.
